A delightfully dreadful guide to throwing a Wednesday-inspired gathering.

You are cordially invited through the wrought-iron gates of Nevermore Academy.

Whether you're planning a Halloween dinner, Wednesday watch party, birthday celebration or an evening for fellow outcasts, consider this your official manual for creating a gathering that's dark, peculiar, and just a little dangerous.

Dress in black. Dim the lights. Mind the carnivorous plants.

Sinister Setup

Think gothic boarding school rather than ordinary Halloween party.

Build your setting around Nevermore's signature mix of old-world academia, supernatural mystery, and wonderfully strange details. Start with a palette of black, charcoal, deep purple, silver, and midnight blue.

Fill tables and shelves with curious specimens, old books, skulls, ravens, candles, botanical oddities, antique frames, apothecary bottles, and objects that look as though they might have been borrowed from Nevermore's archives.

Add black-and-white striped pumpkins, ghostly candleholders, moon-and-star details, and portraits that seem to follow guests around the room.

For the finishing touch, create a Nevermore Curiosities Table. Ask every guest to arrive with one strange object to add to the collection. Give each artifact a handwritten museum label explaining its mysterious or completely fabricated origin.

Sounds of Nevermore

Skip the standard Halloween playlist. Mix cello music, classical pieces, dark instrumental covers, gothic dance tracks, and dramatic film and television scores. Begin atmospheric and slightly ominous during dinner, then turn up the tempo when it's time for the Rave'N.

A Feast for Outcasts

A proper Nevermore gathering deserves something considerably stranger than chips and dip.

For an especially immersive feast, build your menu around dishes inspired by The Official Wednesday Cookbook: The Woefully Weird Recipes of Nevermore Academy. Choose a few dishes for a cocktail party or go completely overboard and serve an entire Nevermore banquet.

Make it a Dessert Seance

Instead of placing everything on one buffet, arrange cakes and sweets among taper candles, antique books, black flowers, silver trays, ravens, and handwritten specimen cards.

Label each dessert as though it has been retrieved from the Nightshade Society archives.

Potions, Poisons & Nightcaps

Create a small Nevermore drinks laboratory with glass bottles, beakers, potion labels, berries, herbs, citrus, cinnamon sticks, and dramatic glassware.

Make It Black
A blackberry mocktail that's dark enough to earn Wednesday's approval.

Bloody Mary
The classic already has the correct name for the occasion. Give your garnish bar a macabre twist with black salt, olives, celery, and skewered vegetables.

Nightshade Society Nightcap
A cozy combination of cinnamon, almond, oat milk, and sweetness that's perfect for the end of the evening.

For younger guests, rename sparkling water, lemonade, juices, and syrups as mysterious Nevermore potions and let everyone concoct their own experiment.

Nevermore After Dark

Dinner is merely the beginning.

The Rave'N Ball

Transform your party into Nevermore's famously peculiar school dance. Ask guests to arrive in monochromatic formalwear—or embrace the Rave'N's icy white dress code for an especially dramatic contrast against your dark décor. Create a dance floor beneath hanging snowflakes, branches, white flowers, shimmering lights, or gothic chandeliers. Then cue the music.

Awards can make the evening even more ridiculous:

Most Woeful Dancer
Best Nevermore Look
Most Likely to Be Expelled
Most Mysterious Outcast

And, naturally, reserve one song for everyone's best Wednesday-inspired dance moves.

Secret Society Social

Invite your guests into the shadows for a meeting of the Nightshade Society.

Create a hidden lounge or candlelit corner decorated with ravens, old books, black flowers, portraits, and Nevermore memorabilia. Guests must discover a password or solve a clue before they're admitted.

Once inside, serve Poe Parfaits and Nightshade Nightcaps while members participate in secret activities.

Outcast Challenge

Divide guests into supernatural factions inspired by Nevermore’s student body: Werewolves, Sirens, Gorgons & Psychics

Teams earn points throughout the evening completing challenges, solving riddles, winning games or uncovering hidden clues.

Choose Your Version

What version of Nevermore will you celebrate?

For a Wednesday Watch Party, serve Blackened Buffalo Bat Wings, Full Moon Franks, Headstones of Horror, and Make It Black mocktails.

For a Nevermore Dinner Party, build the evening around lamb shanks, Poe'Tatoes, Brain Roast, Bleeding Heart Cake, candles, and a Secret Society Social afterward.

For a Teen or Tween Party, combine the Rave'N Ball, Outcast House Challenge, Nevermore Mystery Hunt, Full Moon Franks, Mummified Brie, and Goody's Ghosts.

For a Halloween Cocktail Party, serve small bites and dark drinks while guests explore the Curiosities Table, Petrifying Plant Lab, and hidden Nightshade Society lounge.

Or ignore restraint completely and host the full Nevermore Academy Experience.

After all, normal is an illusion—and at Nevermore, fitting in was never really the point.
